Description

Excellent carte view of the bass drummer from the Octorara Cornet Band. Seated pose of this drummer dressed in a frock and holding his large drumstick and resting on his massive drum. A cartridge box is worn on a waist belt on which is spelled out “Octorara Cornet Band”. The band was in operation from 1868 through 1869 in the vicinity of the Octorara Creek along the borders of Lancaster and Chester Counties in Pennsylvania. This one was part of an album that contained and number of views of musicians from the band that was broken up at some point. I’ve seen a few other views from this album floating around from time to time. Back marked out of Chester County, Pennsylvania. Really neat view.
