Description
Beautiful litho print published by the Johnson Fry & Co. in 1863. This was part of a larger book of prints which the company published depicting various battle scenes of the war. The scene depicted here shows members of the 78th Pennsylvania Infantry as they over take the 26th Tennessee at a pivotal moment in the battle, resulting in the capture of the flag of the 26th and victory for Union forces. This example retains beautiful colors with the flag of the 78th shown to the left and that of the 26th Tennessee, although labeled the 25th here, flying in the distance. Titled across the lower bottom, “BATTLE OF MURFREESBORO CAPTURE OF A CONFEDERATE FLAG”. This one measures 10″ x 7.5″. Some tape residue across the front, top. Very nice war date print.
