Description

Quarter plate tintype of this soldier sporting a Scottish tam. He is possibly a member of the 12th Illinois Volunteer Infantry, otherwise known as the 1st Scotch Regiment. The regiment was well known for wearing the headgear. This subject sits dressed in a vest with eagle buttons running down the front and what appears to be a sack coat. Trousers with a thin line of trim running down the trouser seam would indicate his rank as an officer at some level. A beautifully tinted bouquet of flowers rests on the table at his side resting in a drinking glass. Two small locks of blond and red hair are found behind the image, inside the case. Housed in a half leatherette case.
