Vignette carte view identified as Private Erwin Cady of the 30th Wisconsin Infantry. The Hudson, Wisconsin resident would muster with “D” Company in August, 1862. He would remain with the regiment until his discharge in September of 1865. Cady and the men of “D” Company would initially be ordered to St. Louis to guard boats and supplies. In November of 1864, the company would move to join Sully’s Northwestern Indian Expedition. This example bears a period ink id on the reverse reading, “Edd Cady Company D 30th Regt Wisconsin Vols”. No back mark on this one.
