Item No. AR3772JR Category

Description

Very nice post war cabinet card identified as Henry H. Sheldon. Henry would muster as a private with “D” company of the 3rd Iowa Infantry in June, 1861. The following April he would be slightly wounded while fighting at Shiloh. Following his re-enlistment in December of 1863, the 3rd Infantry would be consolidated with the 2nd Infantry during the summer of 1864. He would continue to serve until his discharge in July, 1865. Henry would fight at such places as Shiloh, Vicksburg, Sherman’s March to the Sea and others. He is also listed as receiving a second wounding in the left side although the date and location is not noted. This is a beautiful portrait of Henry shown wearing his G.A.R. membership badge. A pencil id across the front bottom reads, “Henry H. Sheldon”. Following the war, Henry would move to Green Bush, Wisconsin and was living there as least as late as 1895. This one is marked out of Plymouth, Wisconsin. Very nice view.
