Description

Very nice 4-page letter written by Private Richard Parks of the 127th New York Infantry. Richard writes to his cousin from Coles Island, South Carolina on February 15th, 1864. The vast majority of the letter concerns the regiments involvement in the fight at Diascum Bridge and a soldiers hardness in the face of battle and the sight of death. Richard would muster with “C” Company in September, 1862 and serve until discharged in June, 1865. The letter is written in ink and very legible.  It has also already been transcribed for ease in reading. It has been mounted to paper stock and could be framed very easily if you so chose.
