Description
Quarter plate tintype. Probably a member of some state militia. Standing at “The Support” position. Dressed in a very plain, state issued frock with corporals chevrons added by the artist. There are no actual chevrons applied to the coat but he does wear NCO trousers so it is possible he did hold the rank. His cap is worn with applied wreath and US insignia visible. Armed with a M1816 flint lock musket which was either a photographers prop or a hand me down often issued to militia troops. He stands in front of this elaborately painted back drop which I believe is associated with a photographer from the Cincinnati area. There is a small amount of flaking up at the very top of the image but it does not detract. Housed in a half leatherette case.
