Description
Early war, quarter plate ruby ambrotype of an unidentified Confederate soldier. This example surfaced in Whitley County, Southeastern Kentucky which is along the Tennessee border. Based on the coat he wears I think he is most likely associated with the state of Kentucky. Dressed in this grey, homespun jacket with 6 very small buttons running down the front of the jacket and a small breast pocket. It also displays a very tall stand-up collar. Matching grey trousers are worn with folded legs as he sits photographed in this relaxed pose. There is a scratch running vertically down the right side of the image as you can see. Very nice image which comes housed in a full leatherette case.
