Description
Small pocket sized hymn book meas. approx. 2.75 inches x 4.25 inches and runs 94 pages. Paper cover shows wear but has a nice label with US flag and “HYMN BOOK FOR THE ARMY AND NAVY” printed on it. The label also states that it was published by the American Tract Society. The back cover has another label on it that reads “PRESENTED BY THE UNITED STATES CHRISITIAN COMMISSION.” This label also shows some wear. The inside front page has a period inscription in pencil that reads “The army hymn book, Camp Douglas, Chicago, IL. Jan 5, 1863”. There is also a name there, however it is extremely faint. This example saw some use!
