Description

This is a grouping of two widely published views of Confederate troops that were killed during the shelling of Petersburg and Fort Mahone. Published by Anthony and photographed by T.C. Roche. Thomas Roche arrived on the scene one day after union forces took Confederate Fort Mahone, just 6 days before Appomattox. Both photographs were taken on April 2 of 1865, just one day after the assault. These due still retain their original descriptive tag on the reverse.
