Description
Beautiful litho family register for the Sevolt family of Ohio. The register lists 14 members of the family along with their birth dates with several having dates of deaths listed. The family would hail from the Tiffin, Ohio and Seneca County portion of the state. Three of the members listed would fight during the war and two would not return. Levi Sevolt would muster as a private with Company C of the 65th Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He would be killed in action fighting at Atlanta on July 22, 1864. Isaac Sevolt would muster with Company I of the 123rd Ohio Volunteer Infantry at 17 years of age. He would be captured at Winchester on June 15, 1863 and would spend 4 months in a Confederate prison before being exchanged. There is also a John Sevolt listed with his date of death recorded as August 27th, 1864, killed in action at Atlanta Gap but I could not locate his service. Both John and Isaac’s deaths and locations are listed on the document. Housed in the original frame, it measures 15″ x 11.5″. It does need a new piece of glass as this one is cracked.
