Description
Beautiful cdv sized tintype of a Virginia rebel. Most likely serving among one of the many Richmond artillery batteries. This is a period copy shot produced from the original photo which was taken by famed Richmond photographer, Charles Rees. Dressed in this very heavy light blue frock with two breast pockets, the cuffs and cloth shoulder epaulettes are trimmed in red. The frock itself has a slight, light blue hue to it. The frock is very similar to several other images I have handled attributed to Richmond artillery batteries. This rebel also sports a beard thick enough to stop one of those yankee bullets! It does come housed in a near mint thermoplastic case. Beautiful image!
