Description
Fantastic ninth plate melainotype of a North Carolina rebel infantryman. Dressed in a grey jacket trimmed with black cloth shoulder tabs and this fantastic grey, wide brimmed felt cap. The buttons which run down the face of the jacket are unfortunately gilded over concealing their identity. A US waist plate is worn around the outside of the jacket. Not an entirely uncommon accouterment worn by Confederate troops. Armed with a Colt Navy revolver that he holds across his mid section with the hammer cocked and his finger on the trigger. A very well known photo of the Cathy brothers, who served in the 6th North Carolina Infantry are seen similarly dressed. Down right sweet little image! This one comes housed in a full thermoplastic case with the emerald green velvet.
