Description
Ninth plate ambrotype of this rebel soldier armed with an incredibly massive D-Guard bowie knife. Dressed in what is commonly referred to a “battleshirt” made of grey wool with a broad strip of darker cloth running down the face of the shirt. A very wide leather belt is worn although there is not belt plate visible. He is armed with this simply massive D-Guard knife which rests against his shoulder. The base of that blade is as wide as his hand and I’m sure weighed every bit of 10 pounds! Just a classic rebel view with the iconic rebel D-Guard!
