Wonderful US Pattern M1839 Dragoon belt plate. These are the most desired of all the variations of US belt plates. The reverse has a pair of stud hooks referred to as the “puppy paw style” behind the letter “S” due to the weight of the equipment falling to this side. This example definitely saw some use. Wear to both the face and lead reverse with the majority of the gold gilt remaining. Just a beautiful plate!
