Description
Full standing portrait identified as Cornelius Capron of the 49th Wisconsin Infantry. A late war enlistee, Cornelius would muster with “A” Company in February, 1865. The men of the 49th would serve garrison duty at Rolla and St. Louis, Missouri until discharged near the end of 1865. This example bears a period inscription across the front bottom reading, “Cornelius A. Capron”. With a name like that, there’s no mistaking the identity! No back mark on this one.
