Description
Sixth plate tintype of two state volunteers. The man to the left looks to be dressed in a state issue, dark blue Indiana jacket with cloth shoulder tabs. Displaying the rank of sergeant, he wears a belt with a large roller buckle and a revolver tucked into the belt. His M1858 Hardee hat is held in his hand. Seated next to him, the soldier is dressed in a civilian, double breasted heavy winter jacket. Certainly not his regulation over coat! This does have a name written inside the case in period pencil, it has however rubbed against the preserver, erasing a portion of the name and I cannot make it out. Housed in a half leatherette case.
