Description
Very nice ribbon from the 26th Annual Reunion for the 75th New York Volunteer Infantry held in Auburn, New York in June of 1906. This example features a celluloid of Brigadier General Godfrey Weitzel which reads “OUR OLD COMMANDER”. Across the suspension bar are the words, “Brig. Gen. Godfrey Weitzel”. Known as the “Highlanders”, due to primarily being composed of Scottish born immigrants, they would see considerable service and earn acclaim for wearing the Cameron of Erracht clan tartan kilts and Highland-style dress early in the war before transitioning to standard uniforms. This is a very nice example consisting of a red and blue silk ribbon with very little wear. The pin is also retained on the reverse.
