Description
Carte view of a member of the 12th New York State Militia. This young lad is shown dressed in the Chasseur jacket and trousers issued to the regiment early in 1861. His chasseur cap rests on the table at his side with the numeral “12” visible on the front of the cap. He also sports a very rare, pre-war belt plate with the letter “E” shown on the face of the plate indicating his company affiliation. This was formerly part of the collection of Michael McAfee. Back marked out of New York.
