Description
Exceptional quarter plate tintype of this unidentified second lieutenant. Full standing pose of this officer dressed in his infantry frock, sporting a M1851 eagle waist belt worn over his red sash. He also appears to be armed with a M1840 saber which he has drawn from the scabbard and held at his side. The officer is posed in front of this wonderful military themed back drop which is thought to be associated with the 1st Corps, Army of the Potomac, taken during the winter and spring of 1862/63. Housed in a full leatherette case with a split spine.
