Description
Superb quarter plate tintype of three identified members of 125th Pennsylvania Infantry. Exceptional view of two men seated with a third standing between the two. An old pencil inscription inside the case reads, “John Madison with revolver in his. belong to Co. D. 125th PA Vol. One of the others is Peter Knode of Co. H. 125th PA Vol. Peter Knode is sitting down. Thomas and John Knode belong to Co. D. 110th PA. Joshua Knode and Albert A. Knode belong to Co. C. 125th PA. Joshua was wounded at Antietam Sept. 17th, 1862. Albert A. Knode died at Maryland Heights Oct. 21, 1862″. John Madison can be seen seated to the left with a small revolver in his hand. Serving with “D” Company, John would serve from August, 1862, until his discharge the following May. Peter Knode is seen seated to the right. Presumably the subject standing at center is either Albert or Joshua Knode, who would both serve along side Peter in the 125th. Thomas and John Knode, who would both serve in the 110th, would survive the war, are not pictured here although they are mentioned. This one does come in a full leatherette case.
