Description
Wonderful carte view of an unidentified Federal drummer. Standing pose of this musician as he rests his arm on his drum with drum sticks in hand. He wears a tailored musicians jacket with the collar trimmed in black velvet and a light colored slouch cap. The drum itself is quite clear. There is however no writing visible to determine a regiment. A large and wonderful painting of a female subject on the side. This view was published in the 2015 Summer issue of Military Images Magazine on page 52. It was incorrectly identified as a possible Confederate soldier from Louisiana which is just not the case. It is back marked out of Rendezvous of Distribution of Alexandria, Virginia. Otherwise known as Camp Distribution. The camp served as a staging area for Federal troops who were awaiting their deployment orders after being cleared for duty either due to illness, returning from furlough or returning from prisoner exchange. Regardless, this is a superb and desirable drummer view and we don’t see these very often.
