Description
Full standing portrait of Captain William H. Jackson of the 13th Massachusetts Infantry. Nice portrait of the captain draped in his great coat and cape with his McDowell pattern cap resting on the table. William would be commissioned as a 1st lieutenant with “C” company in July, 1861. He would receive a promotion to captain by Governor Andrews in September of that same year. William would be present with the regiment up until September of 1862 when he would fall ill and require hospitalization. His illness would effectively end his military career. He would remain sidelined until his eventual resignation and medical discharge in March, 1863. An identical view of William can be found on the HDS. No back mark on this one. Just some modern pencil identification on the reverse.
