Description
Super cool sixth plate ruby ambrotype of this well armed rebel cavalryman. He sits here dressed in a grey or butternut jacket with two slash pockets located on either side of the midsection. The jacket is also adorned with a string of large buttons, with the bottom two clearly displaying the Louisiana state seal with the pelican visible. Double armed, he brandishes a heavy saber and a Colt Army revolver with the holster visible just under his arm with a Confederate cap box as well. His cap has a very large brass bugle pinned to the front which would indicate he was most likely a member of a mounted infantry unit. The state of Louisiana produced only two mounted infantry units consisting of the 1st and 2nd Louisiana Cavalry. Both regiments would see extensive service. This one does have a few light swipe marks to the surface but still a great portrait of this young rebel soldier displaying that tough as nails determination! Housed in a half case.
