Description

Sixth plate tintype of this Federal cavalryman who seems to be having a good time clowning around for the camera. Sporting a pair of light blue cavalry trousers, he wears his cap with the visor flipped up and a very large tassel hanging off to one side. A fake mustache is worn and held in place by the man pressing his lips upward and pinching it between his nose and upper lip. I’m not sure how many pocket watches he needed, but I count no less than 6 watch chains hanging from the pocket. Wearing a pair of white gauntlets, he grips his sword which is housed in the scabbard and displays this relic of a pistol. Both the barrel and cylinder of the pistol are nicely blued, while the frame is heavily tarnished and even missing the wood grips! There is definitely a story behind this image and I think somebody might have a bit to much “Ole Be Joyful” before stepping into the studio. This one comes with patriotic brass matting and a full leatherette case.
