Item No. HA37501 Category

Description

Ninth plate tintype of a Federal cavalryman. Seated pose of this soldier dressed in a double breasted greatcoat which were reserved for the cavalry as opposed to the single breasted greatcoat issued to infantry. The coat does have a red hue to it. This was tinted blue at one time and the coloring has oxidized and turned to the color red. You can see tiny splotches of blue remaining on the coat, especially down around the skirt. Nice looking image. Housed in a full leatherette case with a split spine.
