Description
Wonderful little ninth plate ambrotype of a dashing Federal cavalryman. Standing pose of this trooper, jauntily wearing his cap tilted to one side. His sword has been removed from the scabbard and is displayed in front with the leather sword knot wrapped around his wrist. He has to be sporting the largest and whitest pair of leather gauntlets I have ever seen! Dressed in this unique jacket, it is reminiscent of the 3rd New Jersey Cavalry otherwise known as the “Butterflies”. His true affiliation is unknown. Great little image!
