Description
Very nice sixth plate ruby ambrotype of an unidentified infantry corporal. He is shown here dressed in his splendid new infantry frock with the fabric still stiff and unbroken. Corporal’s rank is visible on the sleeve while his M1858 Hardee hat with brass infantry insignia, ostrich plume and hat cord rests on the table at his side. The hat is however mostly obscured once the mat is in place. Very nice clarity to this image. Housed in a patriotic leatherette case with a split spine.
