Item No. HA6854DS Category

Description

Sixth plate ruby ambrotype of a Federal infantryman. Seated pose of this soldier dressed in his infantry frock. Very unusual pose. Notice that he has his fingers separated in the same manner on both hands. I believe this is an old Jewish religious hand gesture in which the two fingers on each hand would be split apart and was known as the “Aaronic Blessing/Priestly Blessing”. It would not be unheard of. In my own collection, I have a Federal infantryman displaying a different religious hand gesture. Housed in a half leatherette case.
