Vignette portrait identified as Private Henry Boynton of the 28th Iowa Infantry. Henry would muster with “H” Company in September, 1862. The following February, Hnery would be promoted to a hospital steward. He would remain in that role until his discharge in July, 1865. This one is back marked out of New Orleans where the regiment would arrive in in December, 1863. A period ink signature across the front bottom reads, “Yours truly H. ? Boynton”. This one has the blue wavy line border as well often associated with many of the Western Theater regiments.
