Description
A life long service member, Miller’s service would begin in 1830 when he would enroll at the Military Academy. Following his graduation, his entire career would be spent in the Quartermasters Department starting in 1838 when he began serving as the Chief Quartermaster and Commissary on the Northern Frontier. He would serve through numerous conflicts to include the Florida War, Mexican War and Civil War. Miller would receive brevets to lieutenant colonel, colonel and brigadier general in March of 1865 for “Faithful and Meritorious Service in the Quarter Master’s Department”. No back mark on this one.
