Description
Pair of sixth plate melainotype’s of two boys from the Buckeye state. The two young men are dressed identical, in sack coats and a forage cap with one of the boys wearing glasses! They appear to have visited the same studio as well, struck the same pose and are armed with the same weapons and accouterments. The small pocket pistol and side knife no doubt provided by the photographer. An OVM plate can be clearly seen on one of the men. The other is wearing an OVM plate as well, however much of it is covered by the gold gilt. These are both uncased with no preserver or cover glass and appear to have been without for a very long time. There are quite a bit of surface abrasions due to the lack of cover glass. One is more severe than the other. Great view of that OVM buckle that we seldom see in these images. I do have a case available that would fit these over on the “Artifacts” page.
