Description
Super cool sixth plate tintype identified as Private Spencer Dunham of the 21st Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry. Spencer sits here dressed in a sack coat and trousers which have been tinted beautiful different shades of blue. He also sports this wonderfully tall, black felt hat which was a unique feature to the 21st Wisconsin. Behind the image resides a small paper note which appears to date to maybe the 1970’s or 80’s. The note itself reads, “Uncle Spencer Dunham 21st Wisconsin. Mother’s brother”. The reverse of the note reads, “Was in 21 battles & skirmishes including Gettysburg, Lookout Mountain, Shiloh, March thru Georgia to the sea”. This one has a really great look to it! Housed in a half leatherette case.
