Description
Ninth plate ruby ambrotype of a Confederate soldier dressed in a commutation jacket. Made of very thin grey or butternut material, the jacket features two slash pockets located on the breast and black cloth shoulder tabs most likely indicating his service in the infantry. A row of very large domed buttons runs down the front of the jacket. I would suspect deep south origins such as Alabama or Mississippi. This one is a bit on the darker side. Housed in a very nice, full leatherette case.
