Item No. CL5800JR Category

Description

Carte view depicting a woman playing the guitar and her husband. Seated, this unknown woman strums a guitar which she holds in her lap. You can clearly see the excess guitar string sticking out in all directions from the tuners at the head of the guitar. Her male counter part stands beside her dressed in a plain dark frock coat and trousers while holding his cap in his hand. This could very well be a minister and his wife. This is back marked by well known southern photographers Vannerson & Jones of Richmond, Virginia. There is however a tax stamp on the reverse of this card indicating it was sold sometime after April of 1865. It does however appear to be a war date view that was sold following Federal occupation. There is a small scratch running horizontally across the the lady’s face.
