Description

Gorgeous solid silver, 6th Corps badge belonging to Henry C. Jones of the 2nd Vermont Volunteer Infantry. Jones would muster with Company D in June, 1861. He would serve 3 years with the regiment mustering out on June, 1864. The regiment would see plenty of action beginning with the First Battle of Bull Run. They would fight at Antietam, Fredericksburg, Gettysburg, Spotsylvania and a slew of other now famous engagements. Henry would be wounded during the fray at the Wilderness on May 5, 1864, just a month prior to his discharge. This one is engraved on the front “H. C. Jones Co. D. 2nd Reg. Vt. Vol.” with beautiful scalloped edging. Hanging from a blue silk ribbon it is missing the top bar. This one has some weight to it as well and is rather thick. Beautiful engraved badge!
