Description
This one is a stunner! Wonderful view of this Federal cavalryman photographed broadside and sitting atop his mount. Seated in the saddle with his feet firmly planted in the stirrups, he grasps the reins in hand while looking into the camera lens. Armed with a holstered revolver, his cavalry saber rests along his leg. Tarred saddlebags are draped over the rear of the saddle and you can even see the empty carbine boot hanging at the horses side! Exceptional clarity to this image. This is actually a ninth plate tintype, but at first glance you would not know it. It’s mounted behind a sixth plate brass mat and housed in a sixth plate case giving the appearance of a much larger image. It presents very well as a sixth plate despite being the smaller size. Really great looking image! Housed in a full leatherette case.
