Description
Beautiful carte view of this unidentified bugler with the 1st Rhode Island Cavalry. He stands dressed in cavalry trousers and this magnificent musicians jacket with herring bone trim. A M1851 eagle waist belt is worn while he steadies himself with his heavy cavalry saber. A leather sword knot hangs from the guard of the sword while his bugle rests on the table at his side. His cap resting next to the bugle, brass cavalry insignia is visible on top of the cap along with the numeral “1” and what appears to possibly be the company letter “B”. I have spent considerable time trying to identify the young trooper, but have been unable to do so unfortunately. This one was published in the June, 2021 issue of Military Images. Back marked out of Westerly, Rhode Island. Slight paper loss to the lower right hand corner which does not detract. Absolutely beautiful carte view!
