Description
Full length standing pose of an unidentified Federal infantry corporal. This view came from the personal CDV album of General Isaac F. Shepard. Dressed in his infantry frock with corporals rank and a McDowell pattern cap. The numbers to his regiment are pinned to the top of the cap, but they are to small to read. He wears a thick leather belt with a single roller buckle from which a stag handled side knife can be seen housed in the sheath. The blade of the knife is a little to small to fit the sheath apparently. The bottom 2 inches are kinked over. I love these little details that are often missed in period photography. There is a small diagonal crease in the bottom right hand corner. Back marked out of Boston.
