Description
Sixth plate tintype of an unidentified officer. He appears to wear the rank of major. Seated in a double breasted frock with two rows of large staff officers eagle buttons visible. Shoulder boards are worn with oak leaf insignia seen. The font of his cap bears embroidered insignia featuring “US” surrounded by laurels. I have thus far been unable to identify this officer. This one does have some condition issues with a bit of flaking and cracking to the emulsion. It does however come in a very nice full thermoplastic case. This one would be a good research project.
