Description
Circa 1860 sixth plate husband and wife ruby ambrotype. This view has great character. Photographed during the colder months, the two are heavily dressed in their winter wardrobe. The husband in this view, much older in age than his young wife. Dressed in a suit, he wears a wool blanket draped over the shoulders while sporting this spectacular, large slouch hat. His wife is bundled up against the elements wearing this tightly buttoned cape and bonnet. Beautiful clarity to this one. Housed in a half leatherette case.
