Description
This view shows what remains of Port Hudson after falling into Union hands. Numerous tents and wooden structures constructed by rebel forces can be seen in the back ground with a disabled wagon in the foreground. To the right of the wagon, the doors to a bombproof shelter can be seen thrown open. A trio of men are visible standing next to the large canvas tent at center. This example bears a rare back mark by New Orleans photographers McPherson & Oliver.
