Description
Outstanding quarter plate ambrotype of this dashing Federal officer. This one came out of southern Ohio. Seated pose of this unidentified officer dressed in a tailored frock and wearing the rank of captain. Magnificently clear image. An eagle waist belt is worn over his sash while he cradles his sword in his lap. Sporting this superb M1851 Hardee hat with large embroidered infantry insignia worn on the front of the hat and this wonderful ostrich plume pinned to the side. It looks like possibly the numeral “9” in the center of the infantry horn. He makes for quite the dashing officer. I have thus far been unsuccessful in identifying this officer. Housed in a full case. Just a stunningly beautiful image!
