Description

Vignette carte view of this soldier with a partial ink identification which reads “Ames”. This view came out of an album containing members of the 5th New Hampshire Infantry. While there were two men with the last name of “Ames” serving in the regiment, only George matches the physical description of 30 years of age. The other individual being 40 years of age. George would muster with “E” Company in October, 1861. His service would however be cut short in July of the following year when he would succumb to disease at Newport News, Virginia. No back mark on this one.
