Description
Spectacular half plate tintype of the Pennock brothers of Ohio. I found this image nearly a decade ago at an estate sale in southern Ohio. This trio of brothers is identified as Charles, John and Lemuel Pennock. The three men strike identical poses dressed in sack coats, forage caps and holding their musket at their sides. Lemuel, who stands to the far left would muster with the 121st Ohio Infantry in September of 1862. His brothers, Charles and John would muster into the 11th Ohio Infantry in June and July, 1861. The three men presumably stood for this photo during early to mid 1863 when both the 11th and 121st were taking part in the occupation of middle Tennessee. Lemuel who stands to the far left, can be seen with the numeral “121” present inside the infantry horn on the cap. All three men would survive the war without serious harm. Lemuel would be discharged in 1865 with his two brothers returning home months earlier in 1864. Nice blue shading to the sack coats. This does come housed in a full leatherette case. Stellar image!
